Could you imagine the agonizing torture of rolling a rock to the summit of a mountain just to see it fall once you got to the top? Those who placed you there watch you struggle and mock your repetitive cycle. Sysiphus chooses to accept his fate and instead of hoping for better he is almost happy because of this acceptance.

Instead of cursing your gods, accepting the hand you have been dealt could be the only way to find happiness. I can relate to Sysiphus’ fate because I try to make it a point in my life to keep pushing. Even if my situation is self-induced I always decide to pick up my pieces and continue to move forward. Always hoping for something better could lead to nothing but agony. I like to imagine Sysiphus smiling as his stone rolls back down the mountain. This is his way of mocking the gods and letting them know he cannot be broken.
